A bit of gratitude...
I wanted to start by thanking everybody for visiting my website. It was a great experience to build this website and I want to continue improving it bit by bit. I did actually have a website before, but I didn't have time to finish making it and the domain eventually expired, and it was expensive for that specific domain. Being a college student, I couldn't exactly afford it.
I can't help but procrastinate on most things. I mentioned I had a previous site that was never really finished. I wanted that site for a business idea, but it ultimately fell through as I didn't have time and was doing a lot for my school. However, I now have more time! With my new schedule, I'll be able to dedicate more time towards my projects and advancing my career. That being said, I built this website for 2 reasons: 1. To have a portfolio for my work and to record my work and 2. to get side work for some extra income. In this economy, to have a plan like this is always a good idea.
As noted on the homepage, I am a cybersecurity student. This means that I am primarily focused on the security side of tech and although I can code, it's not my main focus, which is why I built this website using Hostinger. It honestly saved me so much time and headache, which is especially helpful for my busy schedule. Regardless of whether or not I had the time, website building is not exactly my forte either, as I generally focus more on command-line cybersecurity tools anyways.
My experience...
I wanted to talk about my experience making this site, specifically, how easy it was. Many tech majors know about the different frameworks one can work with for a website and stuff and although that pathway is very beneficial in many ways, it doesn't always fit everyone's needs. That's why these website builders, such as Hostinger, are thriving! Not everyone who needs a website knows how to build one from scratch, or don't have the time to, yet we still need one. Those that have a bit of time, patience, and creativity, are therefore rewarded using website builders, as it allows for much easier gateway to making a website. In most website builders, a lot of what's built is using a drag-and-drop method, similar to making graphic designs in Canva or Adobe Express, but a bit more technical. Some website builders are more intuitive than others, but it ultimately lands upon the user as to what they want. I personally went with Hostinger due to it's price point and simple user interface. Building the actual site was easy and most of my time was actually spent on typing and choosing nice colors!
Even though the website builder is simplistic, it doesn't mean that your completely limited to what Hostinger gives you at face value. There is an element that you can add to add your own custom code, which will be helpful to those, and myself, looking to add some more custom and complex sections to the site. It's honestly pretty good at what it does and allows for beginners and time-consumed people like me to get into managing a site.
Why do I need one then?
This brings me to why a website is important and why I think everyone should have one at some point, especially if you're looking to advance your career. Although it may not become a high traffic site, it's still something that would benefit you. Site's like these are not always meant to advertise a business or sell something. They can also be used as portfolios and ways to share one's progress and work. Employers, peers, and the public will be able to view your site and open up potential opportunities that would be beneficial to everyone involved. Employers will also see initiative and responsibility on your end, especially for a well maintained website!
In the end, it's up to the person if they want to have a site, but I believe that it is so much more easier and accessible to have one now than in the past, so there's no excuse! If you want to use Hostinger to host your own website, use my referral link for a discount by clicking below!
Future plans
As I said at the beginning, I'm a big procrastinator, which is one of the reasons I made this site! I wanted to have a place to not only advertise my skills, but to also keep track of myself and to have those reading this keep me accountable! As my university life comes to a close pretty soon, I wanted to have a place, a virtual place, to myself and myself only. I want to show the world my skills and abilities. Therefore, I will be using this site for that reason.
There will be a slew of projects to come, as I have so many ideas, but as I make progress on them, I will also be posting them here, in their own dedicated space on this site. This site is not meant to be static. Every time something is completed, this site shouldn't look the same way. Next month, this site is supposed to be something different! Which brings me to my first project, the KSUQT-key, a Rubber Ducky open source alternative that's available on my GitHub right now! Due to life, I have not been able to work on it too much, but as I get back into the groove of things, I will be working on my projects more frequently and updating them here. As I continue with these projects, roadmaps should appear to track the progress of these projects. I will be writing a blog post about the KSUQT-key sometime soon as well!
In addition to project updates, I will also be posting updates on other topics, such as education and tutoring. Tutoring has been something I love and will continue to love, as I believe teaching what you know is one of the greatest things you can do in life. To teach is to learn, and I love learning!
I will also be posting accomplishment's I have done in my university, of which I expect there to be many of!
Thanks for reading!
Thank you for reading! I hope you'll come back to read more on what I plan to do and my accomplishments. Whether you need a service from me, just want updates, or want to tinker with some of my projects yourself, I'll always be happy to provide what I have!
